Water Avenue is the main North & South road through the center of the square with the old Court house. South Water is south of the square in Gallatin.

Directions to: Eagle's Nest
From 65 South out of Kentucky
Take the Portland, TN exit (Rt. 52) into Portland. Turn right on Rt. 109 and go south until you leave the city limits of Portland. Just outside the city limits, going south on 109 you will see a flashing yellow light. Just before that intersection by the Academy where the flashing yellow light is there is a road that goes only to the left called AB Wade. The sign for the Mc Cloud Savage Junk Yard is 544 A.B. Wade and it is at the end of the road. Turn left on AB Wade as if you were going to the savage lot. At the end of AB Wade past the savage yard, turn to the right on Old Gallatin Road. About 1/4 of a mile, turn left over the railroad tracts and through a one-lane bridge. That road is the beginning of Keytown Road. Follow Keytown until Keytown goes to the right and a new road, Northup, is to your left. Go left onto Northup. At the corner of Keytown and Northup turn into the first the gravel driveway on your left. That will be 696-B Northup with a sign "Eagle's Nest". Go straight back to the blue house. There is a circle driveway so you can get easily in and out!
If you miss that A.B.WADE road, follow 109 until you come to a Phillips gas station and a country market. Right past the market will be a intersection with a sign saying South Tunnel. Turn left onto South Tunnel road and follow that road. At the stop sign (the only one on that road), turn to the right and continue through the countryside until it dead ends at Rt. 174, Dobbins Pike, and the Pure gasoline station and the Graball country market. Turn left on to Rt. 174, go a few feet and then left on to Keytown road. Follow Keytown until it merges with a road that will be on your right as your travel up Keytown that is called Northup. You will not have a stop sign but there is a stop sign for those who travel on Northup. At that intersection of roads, turn right and then an immediate left into the first gravel driveway. "Eagle's Nest" is 696-B Northup Road and it is at the end of the gravel road in the back of the property. There a blue house awaits you with a circle driveway for easy entrance and exit.
From 65 north from Nashville
Take 65 North to 386 (Vietnam Veteran's Highway) to by-pass Hendersonville and some parts of Gallatin. The extension of Rt. 386 ends at Rt. 109. Take 109 North towards Portland. The four-lane highway will become a two lane highway. Go north on 109 for about 9-10 miles when outside the city limits of Portland there will be a flashing yellow light. That light is for the church on the right and the academy in the back. The next road to the right immediately after the flashing yellow light is AB Wade where you will turn right. AB Wade dead ends so turn right onto Old Gallatin Road and go south for about 1/4 mile and turn left onto Keytown that takes you over the railroad tracks and through a one-lane bridge. Travel on Keytown past the farmer with the goats on the right. Look for a road to the left, called Northup, and turn left onto it and then immediately into the first gravel driveway on the left at 696B Northup Road, or "Eagle's Nest." The blue house in the back with the circle driveway is where you are going. Special Note: If you go to far into Portland, and see a red/green light at Rt. 76 you have gone too far north. Turn around and go back to the flashing yellow light.
If you want to come through Gallatin.
Go past the America's Best Value Inn Motel and bear to the left on North Water Street. You will be heading towards the Gallatin Civic Center on N. Water Street. At the light, the funeral home and farther down on the right will be the Civic Center. N. Water Street will then go to the left. You will go straight ahead on 174 East now called Dobbins Pike and follow it through Union Hill. It will be 6-7 miles when you will come to the GRABALL Pure Gas Station. As soon as you pass the gas station, turn off to the first left onto Keytown Road and follow it for about two miles. When Keytown merges into Northup Road, turn right onto Northup and then immediately left into a gravel road at 696-B Northup. We call it "Eagle's Nest". Go to the end of the gravel road where there is a blue house and a circle driveway for easy entrance and exit. |
